Mission Work in the Republic of Haiti

With the help of a member of our congregation who visited the Republic of Haiti during a trip to deliver food supplies, we had the opportunity to meet and fellowship with a Haitian pastor who with the help of a few others was raising a small church in the city of Quanaminthe.

We were certain that the Lord was calling us to provide help for this work, and so we responded in 2004 by supplying humanitarian aid. Due the conditions of poverty, the pastor and his family did not have a place to live, and his congregation would meet in a rented hut without floors or walls.

Our mission workers in Puerto Rico, a small group of faithful men and women, began raising funds and by the end of 2004 we bought a property and built a small house for the pastor and his family.

Afterwards we bought another property adjacent to his new home, and we placed there a tent brought from Puerto Rico that would serve as a worship temple during the night and as a school room for about 100 kids during the day.

All the way from Puerto Rico, our mission group took on the responsibility of paying wages for teachers and the principal and also for paying uniforms, school supplies etc. (Any mission work in Haiti has to be accompanied by social work within the community).

In 2007 a tornado ravaged through the Dominican Republic and Haiti, which also destroyed the tent that we had previously built.

Under these circumstances we began the construction of a new temple. We had brethren and friends that traveled from the United States to help us with the new task, and several months later a new house of worship was inaugurated. All the Glory to God!
